Congratulations are in order for playwright Lynn Nottage, whose incredible play Sweat, currently playing at Studio 54, was recently selected as the winner of the 2017 Pulitzer Prize for Drama! Nottage, who previously won the award in 2009 for her play Ruined, is the first woman to win the award for a second time.
Additionally, the American Academy of Arts & Letters also announced Lynn Nottage to be the winner of their Distinguished Achievement in Drama Award. Presented once every 6 years, Nottage is just the second woman and first person of color to receive this honor.
Filled with warm humor and tremendous heart, Sweat tells the story of a group of friends who have spent their lives sharing drinks, secrets and laughs while working together on the factory floor. But when layoffs and picket lines begin to chip away at their trust, the friends find themselves pitted against each other in a heart-wrenching fight to stay afloat.
Sweat comes to Broadway this season following its sold-out New York premiere at The Public Theater last fall, directed by Kate Whoriskey, who has previously collaborated with Lynn Nottage on the Pulitzer Prize-winning Ruined among other plays. Tickets for Sweat start at $53 for groups of 10+. Don’t miss the chance for your group to see this exceptional play. Call 877-943-2929 and book with Your Broadway Genius today.
