A musical adaptation of Tina Fey’s 2004 hit comedy film Mean Girls, which starred actress Lindsay Lohan as a high school transfer student trying to navigate teenage social cliques, will have its world premiere in fall 2017 in Washington, D.C.
Based on the book Queen Bees and Wannabes, Mean Girls follows a group of popular girls, known as the Plastics, who rule a suburban high school with an iron first and the group of outcasts who takes them down. In addition to Lohan, the film starred Rachel McAdams, Amanda Seyfried, Lacey Chabert, and Lizzy Caplan.
The show is reported to a featured a book by Tina Fey with music by Jeff Richmond (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt) and lyrics by Nell Benjamin (Legally Blonde). Ms. Fey has confirmed that the score will feature a classic Broadway sound and none of the film's stars will appear in the Broadway adaptation.
